The B sample test was not conducted on Lankan Commonwealth Games boxing gold medalist Manju Wanniarachchi as was told to media earlier, National Olympic Committee sources told Ada Derana today. An unnamed NOC official said that the reason as to why the test did not take place is still unclear.

Earlier media was told that the examination will take place on Tuesday (November 2) at the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) Examination Unit situated in New Delhi.

Wanniarachchi tested positive for the performance enhancing steroid nandrolene after he beat Welshman Sean McGoldrick in the 56 kg bantam weight class final to win a gold medal for his country after a lapse of 72 years.

Meanwhile Ada Derana learns that the Commonwealth Games Secretariat is due to send a letter tomorrow on the future steps of the matter.
