Train derails near Omanthai railway station

An intercity express train traveling from Jaffna to Colombo Fort has derailed near the Omanthai railway station.
Accordingly, one compartment of the train had derailed at around 4 p.m. today (26) and efforts to re-rail the train are currently underway.
This is the first reported train derailment since the railway line from Mahawa to Jaffna was renovated and brought back into operation.
