Chinese presidential envoy to attend Lankan President’s inauguration

Chinese Presidential Envoy Sang Guowei will attend the inauguration ceremony of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa next week, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei said Thursday at a regular press conference.

 

Sang, vice chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, will visit the South Asian country from Nov. 17 to 20 as a guest of President Rajapaksa.

 

Rajapaksa will be sworn in for his second term as president on Nov. 19.

 

Sang will also attend the launching ceremony of Hambantota Port in southern Sri Lanka, which was built by China Harbor Engineering Company, Xinhua reports.
