190, 000 still displaced in Colombo

Approximately 190, 000 people are still residing in displaced camps in the Colombo District due to the flooding that took place along with inclement weather conditions. According to the Disaster Management Centre 15 camps will be providing further shelter to the displaced.


They are currently being provided with cooked meals and relief services through Grama Sevaka’s in the area, Colombo District Coordinator of the Disaster Management Centre, Ranjith Kapuliyadda pointed out.


Furthermore he added that necessary steps are being taken to relieve people who are still displaced due to the severe floods that took place yesterday.
