A group of government and opposition members of the Mahawa Provincial Council have begun a protest on the roof of the Provincial Council building. They are demanding that the Chairman of the Mahawa PC be removed from his duties, Ada Derana correspondent said.

The PC members staging the protest accused the Provincial Council Chairman of offering various posts in exchange for money and also of having a hand in several illegal affairs. Therefore they demanded that authorities take measures to remove the Chairman from his post with immediate effect.
