The UNP annual convention will be held on December 12, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said today. The decision was taken at the UNP Working Committee meeting which was held earlier today. The much talked about party reforms will be taken up at this convention.

 

The new party constitution was unanimously approved today by the Working Committee and the report compiled by the Working Committee on the new constitution will be presented at the Annual Convention, Attanayake added.

 

All party reforms and reconstruction will be made at the convention, he said.

 

Attanayake also stated that many disciplinary actions including the sacking of 6 UNP Local Government Members who extended their support to the government, was taken at the meeting.

 

The new constitution will come into effect if approved by the convention within 120 days from the day of the convention, Attanayaka claimed.
