Case regarding Fonseka’s seat suspended by interim order

An interim order was issued by the Supreme Court today suspending the Appeal Court case, against the removal of Sarath Fonseka from his parliamentary seat, with immediate effect.


The Supreme Court decided that a trial regarding the legitimacy of Sarath Fonseka’s Court Martial will be held. Therefore the interim order was issued to suspend the case proceeding at the Court of Appeal until a verdict is given on the Supreme Court case.
