Rs.3M profits from CAA raids in last 3 months – Johnston

Raids conducted by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) have increased by 100%, Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando expressed in parliament today.


Until October of this year (2010) alone a total of 6,577 raids have been carried out, a larger number of those raids were done within the months of May and October, he pointed out.


The Minister made these remarks in response to a question by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake at Parliament today.


Johnston Fernando further stated that a profit of over three million rupees have been made through the raids conducted by the Consumer Affairs Authority in the past three months alone.
