60 more unconscious students admitted to hospital

60 more students have been admitted to the Nuwaraeliya hospital after they were rendered unconscious due to inhaling air contaminated, the Principal P. Shanmuganadan of the Highforest Tamil School in Ragala, Nuwaraeliya said.


Yesterday 21 students of the same school were admitted to hospital after suffering the same fate and are still receiving treatment, the Ada Derana correspondent confirmed.


The principal said that today the students had come to school to sit for their exam and had fainted after inhaling the contaminated air. According to reports the insecticide that was sprayed on a nearby vegetable plot had contaminated the air around the school. Ragala police are conducting further inquiries.
