April 30, 2025   10:16 am

The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) announced that its head office in Narahenpita will remain closed on 5 and 6 of May.

The decision has been taken in view of the upcoming Local Government (LG) election.

The closure comes as the head office of the DMT, located on Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 05, is scheduled to be used as a polling center during the election.

Accordingly, the public is advised that the department will be closed for all general services on both May 5—the day prior to the election—and May 6, the day of the election.

The 2025 LG election is scheduled to be held on 6 May.
