LG election candidate injured in Nagoda shooting

A candidate in the upcoming Local Government (LG) election has been injured and hospitalised following a shooting incident at Nagoda in Kalutara, police said.

The injured person has reportedly been admitted to the Nagoda Hospital in critical condition.

Police said two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the shooting while the candidate was in front of a house in the Nagoda area within the Kalutara South Police Division.

The injured person is a 51-year-old resident of the Nagoda area.

The Kalutara police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
