The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has closed its office in the Mannar district, says a release issued by its media unit.
The office had been functioning since 1995 covering the administrative divisions of Musali, Nanattan, Mannar Town, Madhu and Manthai West, carrying out activities to address humanitarian needs of victims of the conflict.
From 30 November 2010, support to beneficiaries of the Family Visits Assistance (FVA) programme will continue from the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) Mannar branch premises located at No. 25, Field Lane, Sinnakaddai (Telephone: 024 32 45 287). This programme provides a travel allowance to families visiting their detained relatives, adds the statement.
