37 CTB busses belonging to the Tangalle depot have been modernized, refurbished and handed over to the Ceylon Transport Board for public transport. This was carried out under the program to refurbish 1000 busses to coincide with the inauguration of the President’s second term.

The function was held with the participation of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama. Speaking at the event the Minister stated that 25% of the profit gained by the Ceylon Transport Board is going to waste.

The reason for this is vehicle parts of CTB owned busses being sold as spare parts and bus conductors cheating money, Welgama pointed out.
