Three sluice gates of the Polgolla Reservoir in Kandy have been opened due to heavy rainfall.

The Polgolla Reservoir Engineering Office said three sluice gates were opened by 18 inches each.

Sluice gates were opened to manage potential flood conditions, the office noted.

As a result, approximately 4,500 cubic feet per second of water is being released into the Victoria Reservoir.
