A group of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) workers have commenced a protest fast at the CEB main office in Kandy. 11 employees are currently fasting on the rooftop of the office building, Chairman of the CEB Man Power Services Union stated.

The aim of the fast is to show our objection towards authorities for not recruiting current informal workers as permanent employees, the Chairman Sampath Kumara said.

A protest was also held previously on November 22, however it had been dispersed by officials.
