Enjoining order protecting Cader extended

Enjoining order protecting Cader extended

December 7, 2010   05:17 pm

Today the enjoining order issued preventing the UNP from canceling the membership of A.R.M. Abdul Cader was extended till January 11 with conditions by the Colombo District Court.

The respondents, the United National Party, had raised initial objections requesting that the enjoining order be removed. However the objections were dismissed by the District Court which then pronounced that the enjoining order will be extended.

Even though the UNP is at liberty to conduct a disciplinary inquiry on the petitioner, Abdul Cader, as stated by the enjoining order they (UNP) are prohibited from conducting the inquiry on the grounds of Mr. Cader joining the government party alone.
