Train operations restored on Kandy–Peradeniya line

The section of the railway line between Kandy and Peradeniya stations which was affected due to ground subsidence has been repaired and train services restored, the Railway Department said.

Accordingly, the train that departed from Colombo Fort for Badulla at 5.55 a.m. has continued its journey to Kandy.

It is reported that the ground subsidence was caused by heavy rainfall in Kandy over the past few days.
