UNP’s annual convention kicks off

The much anticipated United National Party’s special convention has begun a short while ago, Ada Derana reporter confirmed. The convention will take place from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm today (December 12) at the party’s headquarters (Sirikotha).
The main objective of the convention will be to pass the party’s new constitutional amendment, which has been approved by the UNP Working Committee.
However Plantation Industries Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekara, who recently crossed over to the government from the UNP, says that absolutely no changes will take place in party after the convention.
Speaking to media the Deputy Minister had stated this in Kandy yesterday (December 11).
