Sri Lanka to lend a hand to Fiji’s judicial system

The government of Fiji has directed its interest towards obtaining the assistance of Sri Lanka in order to improve the island nations’ judicial system. Arrangements will be made to attain the support of the experienced and qualified official of Sri Lanka’s law field, the Chief Justice of Fiji expressed.
The Chief Justice Anthony Harold Cumberland Gates who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (December 20).
Several Sri Lankan judges and lawyers are currently employed in the law field in Fiji, he spoke during the meeting. The Chief Justice further added that most senior posts in Fiji’s criminal courts are held by Lankan women.
Methods for the two countries to collaborate in regard to justice and law were further discussed during the courtesy call, President’s Media reported.
