Three including toddler killed in separate road accidents

Three individuals, including a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler have died due to multiple road accidents reported from across the country, police stated.

These accidents took place yesterday (29) in Matale, Medawachchiya, and Katana.

An accident was reported along the Matale-Rattota road in Mandandawela, when a three-wheeler overturned on the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police stated in the accident, the mother of the driver and a toddler who were traveling in the back seat of the three-wheeler sustained injuries. They were admitted to the Matale Hospital, where the child later succumbed to injuries.
Meanwhile, in Medawachchiya along the A9 road at the Weli Oya junction, a lorry collided with a motorcycle and another lorry, after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was first admitted to the Rambewa Hospital and then transferred to the Anuradhapura Hospital for further treatment, where he died.

The deceased was a 58-year-old resident of Medawachchiya.

Meanwhile, in Katana, a cab collided with a motorcycle along the Negombo–Mirigama Road, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was admitted to the Negombo Hospital, where he succumed. 
The deceased was a 23-year-old resident of Katana.
