23-year-old shot dead in Kosgoda

A 23-year-old youth has been shot dead in the Doowamodera area of Kosgoda at around 5.30 a.m. this morning (31), Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler, said.

The shooting was reportedly carried out by two unidentified gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police have revealed that a T-56 firearm was used in the shooting.

The Police Media Spokesperson stated that the Kosgoda Police have launched further investigations into the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Aruth Mendis, the son of the owner of a turtle center, Ada Derana reporter said.
