Two Policemen arrested for extortion of couples in Chilaw

Two Policemen have been arrested for allegedly extorting money from couples on the beaches in Chilaw.

 

Initial Police investigations revealed that the two suspects had asked for Rs.2000 from each couple but had received a sum of Rs. 500 by threatening to take the couple to courts.

 

The Chilaw Police also stated that the suspects were intoxicated during the time of arrest.
