Heavy showers leave 655 families displaced in Batti

A flood situation has occurred in the Batticaloa District due to severe rainfall in the region, the Disaster Management Centre states. Six camps have been set up in the district for those who were displaced as a result of the floods, Additional Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said.

 

 

Currently these camps temporarily house some 655 families and necessary measures have been taken in order to provide them with adequate flood relief, he pointed out.
