The Pugoda Magistrate’s Court issued a seven-day detention order to interrogate the suspect, after he was produced before the magistrate today (21).

The suspect was arrested yesterday (20) by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while hiding in Nagarawewa, Hambantota.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the 34-year-old suspect, a former army soldier residing in Barawakumbuka, has also been charged with attempted murder in two shootings that took place in Avissawella and Kollupitiya.

Police further stated that, based on information obtained from the suspect, a 9mm firearm, four rounds of ammunition, two 12-bore firearms, and 6 grams of the crystal methamphetamine (ICE) were found concealed in Hanwella.
