Imported eggs to hit markets today, chicken tomorrow

The Ministry of Cooperatives and Internal Trade revealed today that over 2 million of imported eggs will be released to the market today (December 28). The wholesale price of the eggs will be Rs.11 while the retail price will be Rs.12, Minister Johnston Fernando said.


The 500 tons of Chicken that was also imported in order to maintain prices in the local market during the festive season will be sold at Rs.350 per kilogram and will be released to the market tomorrow (December 29), he added.


The eggs and chicken will be available in Sathosa and Co-op City outlets, the Minister stated during a press conference today.
