The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) is only a time consuming and attention diverting effort by the government, UNP Western Provincial Council member Shiral Lakthilaka told Ada Derana in an exclusive interview.

He further stated that the government should share their side of the story with the UN Panel appointed by Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and that Sarath Fonseka should also be allowed to share his experiences. He said that any international investigation surrounding war crimes in Sri Lanka was not applicable and that the panel was only looking into the reconciliation process within the country.

Mr. Lakthilaka also shared his views on other issues including the Tamil National Anthem, the future of the UNP and its leadership as well as allegations made against Sri Lanka in the controversial WikiLeaks cables.  Click the video above to watch the full interview.
