Atmospheric conditions are getting favorable for evening thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces during the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers can be expected in several places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces after 2.00 p.m. today (07), the Met. Department added.

Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places.

A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya districts as well.

Meanwhile, the sun will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka today due to its apparent southward relative motion.

The nearest places of Sri Lanka over which the sun will be overhead today are Mirissa, Kamburugamuwa, Matara, Dondra, Gandara and Talalla at around 12.08 p.m.
