Fire breaks out in a fuel tank at Sapugaskanda Refinery

A fire has broken out in an empty fuel tank, which was being repaired at the Sapugaskanda Refinery, this evening (10), the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said.

Internal fire engines, as well as fire engines from the fire brigade are being used to douse the fire, Police stated.

Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
