Cloudy skies can be expected over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces today (16), the Department of Meteorology said.

Meanwhile, several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Met Department added.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Mullaitivu district after 1.00 p.m. as well.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
