Bus operators will not be allowed to increase the minimum bus fare of Rs.6 despite their demands, President of the Western Province Passenger Transport Authority, Piyasena Dissanayake said.

He claimed that the demands were unreasonable and that there was not need to increase the bus fares at this time. Private bus operators stated yesterday that they would stage a protest if the minimum bus fare is not increased by Rs. 1 by January 11.
