Majority bus owners are against the strike - NTC

January 8, 2011   03:33 pm

Even though the private bus owners are ready to stage an island wide bus strike, we will face it with alternate strategies, says Shashi Welgama Chairman of the National Transport Commission (NTC).

He further added that the demands by the private bus unions are not at all reasonable. A majority of the private bus owners are against this strike, Shashi Welgama pointed out.

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association had previously stated that they would launch an island wide bus strike as the discussions with the Transport Minister, Kumara Welgama were a failure.

They had somehow said that the final decision will be made tomorrow (January 09).
