The LPBOA says that they intend to postpone the bus strike which was scheduled to take place on January 11. We plan to postpone the strike as the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has decided to give in to one of our primary demands, Gemunu Wijeratne said.

The President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) expressed “However, not only the minimum bus fare but a need for an extensive revision of bus fares exist.

We are ready to direct our attention towards that issue and request the government in regard to the matter” Wijeratne added.

He further stated that they plan to prepare a methodical timetable and formalize a proper method to hand new bus tickets as agreed by the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority.
