President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Presidential Secretariat this morning to discuss the fifth review of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for Sri Lanka, according to the President’s Office.

The discussion was held on the occasion of the mid-term phase of the fifth review, which is being conducted before the release of the sixth tranche of the IMF assistance in Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring process.

During the meeting, President Dissanayake said that the government’s main objective is to rescue the country from economic bankruptcy and take it towards development, and that the government has a strategic plan for that.

The President also stated that he greatly appreciates the support provided by the IMF in the process of making that program a success, the President’s Media Division reported.
