Police fire at van near checkpoint in Ratmalana, driver arrested

Police officers engaged in duties at a routine police checkpoint near the Golumadama Junction in Ratmalana have given chase and opened fire at a vehicle that failed to comply with instruction to stop.

Police said that the driver of the van was later apprehended in connection with the incident and that Mount Lavinia Police is conducting further investigations.
