Fire breaks out in matchbox factory at Pallekele

A fire has broken out at a matchbox factory in Pallekele, Kandy this evening (05).

Reports state that the fire started in a warehouse of the factory where match heads are stored.

Three fire engines from the Kandy Fire Brigade have been deployed and are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Investigations into the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are being carried out by the Pallekele Police.
