Three individuals, a male and two females, have been arrested by the police in connection with a heroin trafficking operation. Police stated that the operation involved the smuggling of heroin from Aluthgama and distributing it in Badulla and Bandarawela.

Along with the arrests, police seized 1,000 heroin packets that had been wrapped for distribution.

According to information received by police, two sisters, aged 28 and 30, residing in Hali-Ela have been distributing narcotics in Badulla and Bandarawela. Based on the tip-off, police officers had raided the house.
At that time, the two suspects, who were packaging drugs, were apprehended.

During the subsequent interrogations, it was revealed that a person from Aluthgama was supplying them with heroin.

The supplier was reportedly apprehended after the Bandarawela police devised a plan using the phone of one of the arrested females.

Accordingly, the supplier was arrested while arriving to hand over the narcotics to the female.

Further investigations into the incident are underway.
