Two Chinese arrested smuggling foreign currency

The Katunayake airport customs has apprehended two Chinese national for attempting to illegally smuggle foreign currency to China. According to custom officials the duo had planned to travel to China in Hong Kong-bound flight CX 710 today (January 18) morning.
The foreign currency concealed within the two individual’s baggage is estimated to amount to over Rs. 9 million and includes currency in US Dollars and Chinese Yuans, Customs Superintendent Parakrama Basnayake said.
Airport customs are conducting further investigations on the two individuals.
