Man arrested with firearm and ammunition in Chilaw

An individual has been arrested for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license by the Chilaw Divisional Investigation Unit.

The raid was conducted based on information received by officers of the Chilaw Narcotics Bureau.

During the operation, the suspect was arrested with a foreign-made firearm, three rounds of ammunition, 460 duty-free cigarette sticks smuggled into the country and 202 liters of illicit liquor.

It is reported that the suspect arrested by the Chilaw Divisional Investigation Unit has been handed over to the Chilaw Police.

The person arrested is a 45-year-old resident of Akkaraipattu.

The Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
