Another vessel suspected to be carrying narcotics seized in southern seas

Another fishing vessel carrying six Sri Lankan fishermen has been taken into custody on suspicion of transporting drugs, police stated.

The vessel was taken into custody in the southern seas off Sri Lanka.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Sri Lanka Navy.

Around 15 packages suspected to contain narcotics were found onboard, according to reports.

The fishermen and the boat are scheduled to be brought to the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour this afternoon (20).
