Rehabilitation for beggars in Colombo

The government plans to implement a rehabilitation programme for beggars living in Colombo with the help of volunteer groups through the Ministry of Social Services. As the first step a census will be conducted to gather information regarding the beggars living in the Colombo area.

 

The programme is to include livelihood training and self-employment training while the homeless children will be provided with an education.
