Death toll owing to adverse weather climbs to 159 with over 203 missing

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reports that 159 deaths have been recorded so far as adverse weather conditions continue to affect the island.

Meanwhile, 203 persons have been reported missing, DMC said. 

Currently, 833,985 individuals from 234,503 families within 25 districts have been affected.

Also, 122,822 people from 34,19 families have been moved to 919 safety locations, the DMC added.
