The fishing boat ‘Sankara Putha-2’ which has been missing for over two months has been found in the Indonesian sea. The boat, which had set sail on November 12 from Hambantota along with its crew of five have been rescued by the Indonesian Navy.

An Indonesian fishing boat had spotted the drifting Lankan boat and had proceeded to alert the country’s Navy, who had then deployed a rescue boat.

According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, communication with the boat had abruptly ended on November 23.

While the five fishermen are in good health, steps will be taken to bring them back to the country within two weeks, the Ministry stated.
