Spill gates of Kala Wewa opened; Residents in downstream areas urged to remain vigilant

Authorities have opened two spill gates of the Kala Wewa by four feet each as of 9:00 a.m. today (04).

The spill gates have been opened due to the increase in the water level of the Kala Wewa, Ada Derana reporter said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation has advised residents living in low-lying areas to exercise extreme caution.
