The National Union of Workers, the Upcountry People’s Front, the Workers Liberation Front and the Upcountry National Workers will combine under the party name of Upcountry Alliance to contest the upcoming local government elections.

The party will contest under the symbol of the hoe while the National Union of Workers stated that it will contest alone in the Ambagamuwa area only under their symbol of the peacock. The Citizens Front have decided not to join the Alliance after talks between the parties had failed.
