Sri Lankan passenger arrested at BIA with over 2 kg of heroin

A Sri Lankan national arriving from Malaysia has been arrested by the Airport Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for attempting to smuggle 2.3 kilograms of heroin, police said.

The arrested suspect has been identified as a 28- year old, resident from Rambukkana, police confirmed. 

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (14) to obtain detention orders. 

The Airport’s Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations into the incident.
