Stock of smuggled cigarettes caught at the harbour

The Excise Department nabbed a stock of smuggled cigarettes worth Rs.40 million in a container at the Sri Lanka Harbour in Peliyagoda, Deputy Director of the Excise Department Athula Lankadewa stated.

 

The smuggled stock of cigarettes was brought from Dubai while no one has been arrested in connection with the shipping. Mr. Lankadewa further added that investigations are currently on going regarding this incident.
