The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has decided not to support the no-confidence motion that is expected to be brought against Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Addressing a media briefing, leader of the ITAK Parliamentarian S. Shritharan announced this decision.

Opposition Members of Parliament are currently in the process of bringing forward a no-confidence motion seeking the removal of Harini Amarasuriya as the Minister of Education, and are in the process of collecting signatures for the motion.

MP Shritharan stated that his party will not sign the no-confidence motion.

He said the party reached the decision due to the lack of evidence supporting the allegations leveled against the Education Minister.

The MP further noted that the matter was discussed with the party leadership at a parliamentary group meeting, and emphasized that even if the no-confidence motion is presented in Parliament in the future, the party would not be able to vote in favor of it or against the Prime Minister.
