Six months of essential food items for flood victims

The government has initiated a programme to supply six months worth of essential food items to flood victims through the Economic Development Ministry with the aid of the World Food Programme.

Victims in five districts, namely, Ampara, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and Trincomalee will receive parcels of rice, dhal, coconut and sugar through the programme. Around 580 metric tons of food has been sent today (February 4) for distribution in the North and East.
