Four persons killed in separate road accidents

Four individuals, including three women have died in four separate road accidents that occurred in several areas yesterday, police stated.
The accidents were reported from Maharagama, Ruwanwella, Kaduwela and Egoda Uyana.
Police noted that a private bus traveling towards Maharagama collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road near the Pannipitiya junction causing an accident.
The injured pedestrian died while being admitted to the Homagama Hospital, according to police.
The deceased was a 77-year-old woman residing in Horana.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road in Pannala, Ruwanwella.
The injured woman died while being admitted to the Karawanella Hospital, police said.
The deceased was a 54-year-old woman residing in Bulathkohupitiya.
In another incident, near the Kaduwela junction, a motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the road, after which he was run over by a lorry traveling in the same direction.
Police stated that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on admission to the Biyagama Hospital.
The deceased was a 31-year-old resident of Mulleriyawa.
Meanwhile, near the Egoda Uyana junction, a private school service bus traveling towards Moratuwa collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian sustained injuries and was pronounced dead on admission to the Panadura Hospital.
The deceased was a 71-year-old woman residing in Moratuwa, according to police.
