Ex-minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s cousin arrested in money laundering probe

U.D.M. Seneviratne Bandara Rambukwella, a cousin of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, has been arrested on allegations of money laundering by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).   

The commission says that following an investigation, it has been revealed that Bandara Rambukwella had engaged in the laundering of illegally obtained funds by former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

Accordingly, the arrest was made under Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, No. 05 of 2006.

Bandara Rambukwella, who is a gem businessman residing in Wellawatte, was arrested earlier this morning (03) at his residence, by a group of investigating officers of the Bribery Commission.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
